‘Money doesn’t change people, it just shows who they really are.’ This sentiment rings true for the Rodman family, as Trinity Rodman shared more details about her strained relationship with her father and NBA Legend, Dennis Rodman. If one line could define Dennis Rodman, it would be ‘Work hard, play harder’ and the five-time NBA champion often took the ‘play harder’ part to the extreme. 

For years, Trinity Rodman has spoken openly about Dennis Rodman’s absence as a father figure during her upbringing. While he may not have been physically present, Trinity inherited her father’s athletic prowess, making her one of the best forwards in soccer today. But her success begs the question – At what cost?

Speaking to Alex Cooper on the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast, opened up further about their bond. “He partied all the time, he has this beach house in Newport, and we tried to live with him, but he’s having 24/7, he’s bringing random b—–s in like?” says Rodman, highlighting how her mother, Michelle Moyer, was the only strong figure. 

Police responded to over 70 noise complaints, stemming from parties at Dennis Rodman’s Newport Beach home. In 2003, he was arrested and charged with domestic violence at the same residence for allegedly assaulting Michelle Moyer. Over the years, Dennis Rodman has struggled with alcohol addiction, frequently entering rehabilitation centers and facing multiple arrests for drunk driving violations.

Trinity Rodman’s greatest support system has always been her mother, whom she describes as the strongest woman she knows. Her mother went to great lengths to fill the void left by Dennis Rodman’s absence. However, for Trinity, she does not have any hopes of reconciling with her father. 

Rodman, the ‘bad boy’ of basketball

Despite being a two-time NBA All-Star, two-time Defensive Player of the Year, and five-time NBA champion, Dennis Rodman, nicknamed “The Worm,” is often best remembered for his off-court antics. He often sported bold hair colors, tattoos, and piercings, while regularly clashing with opponents and referees both on and off the court.

Rodman enjoyed stardom beyond basketball, from his friendship with Kim Jong Un to wrestling alongside Hulk Hogan, starring in movies, and hosting his own shows. He fully embraced the high life. Despite his stardom, Rodman battled alcohol and gambling issues and was no stranger to courtrooms.

Rodman’s legal troubles include multiple drunk driving incidents, misdemeanors, domestic violence charges, and sexual assault cases, forming a long list of brushes with the law. For his internal affairs, Dennis once made headlines by showing up unannounced to his daughter Trinity Rodman’s NWSL final. Even though she won the game, it was far from a happy ending, as Dennis once again disappeared from Trinity’s life.
