Kylian Mbappe has once again come under fire for his behavior. The incident of the French sensation taunting the Brest fans during a match against PSG on October 29 has once again received backlash. This act left a negative impression on Brest’s manager, Eric Roy, and he recently spoke out against Mbappe’s attitude.
The match in question was an intense Ligue 1 showdown where, in the 89th minute, Mbappe scored a crucial goal from the rebound of a missed penalty, securing a 3-2 victory for his team. While celebrating his goal, however, he took it upon himself to taunt the Brest fans and silence them.

The Frenchman’s taunting gesture received significant backlash from various quarters, and Roy’s voice added to the chorus of criticism. In a recent interview with FootMercato, he stated, “Concerning Kylian Mbappe, I would never have spoken about him if I hadn’t been asked what I thought of his attitude, which I found ridiculous.”

Roy, no stranger to insults as a player and coach himself, mentioned that he had never resorted to name-calling or insulting the public. He further added, “Soccer is a reflection of society and there will always be idiots in a stadium.” While the Brest boss was offended by Mbappe’s behavior, the 24-year-old himself seemed unfazed by the backlash he has received.
In the aftermath of the incident, Kylian Mbappe defended himself and took to X to justify his actions. He stated, “Well of course I should have sung with them when they insulted my teammate.” In addition, it is not just his conduct that has come under scrutiny recently. There have also been questions raised about the forward’s professionalism.

Kylian Mbappe just last week found himself at the receiving end of journalist Paulo Cobos’ scathing remarks. Cobos firmly asserted that Mbappe has failed to demonstrate a sense of responsibility following Neymar and Lionel Messi‘s departure. In his statement, Cobos expressed his expectations by stating, “After campaigning to get rid of Neymar, we expected Mbappé to become the leader of the club that pays him an astronomical salary.”
He further criticized the PSG superstar for adopting a “prima donna” attitude. The journalist added that “the French star is not only showing a lack of professionalism.” Cobos also opined that he is not setting a positive example. It is evident that despite enjoying an impressive career, Mbappe is also facing significant backlash.
