Ligue 1 is getting more exciting day by day. With the transfer window closed just recently, teams will bring out their full potential and try the new players they got. One player has come to Ligue 1 on a loan and is tearing teams apart. Fans are excited because the young upcoming star of soccer is up for grabs for USMNT. The World Cup has just concluded, but teams are gearing up for the next one.
Especially the USMNT has so much to try to figure out strats around the players. It is also pressure on the team to perform well in the 2024 Copa America hosted by the USA.

Every league has a stand-out team on their tables, Serie A has Napoli, Premier League has Arsenal, and Ligue 1 has PSG. All these teams are dwarfing their opponents to win all but certain matches. PSG is standing at the top spot on the table and two of the top three goal-scorers of the season are Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. But, they are in the 2nd and 3rd spot, respectively. The top scorer of the league is not Lionel Messi, it might surprise every fan.
Balogun has left Kylian Mbappe and Neymar behind
Despite the league-wide domination of the PSG, the top scorer of the league is not from the Paris-based club. The top scorer this season in Ligue 1 till now is 21-year-old Folarin Balogun. The Arsenal striker came to Ligue 1 club Reims on a loan and had scored 14 goals this season in 20 games he had played till the writing of this piece. Kylian Mbappe is lurking right behind him in with one less goal and having played one less match. Right behind Mbappe is a Brazilian star striker Neymar with one less goal than Mbappe and one less match played than him. The news of Balogun leading the scorer board is exciting for the fans, as he is eligible to play for USMNT if they act on time.
Balogun has played for the US U-18 back in 2018. Although he is currently in the roaster of England U-21, if USMNT reacts in time and gets him okay to play for the USA, it will be a huge win for the American soccer team.

Is Lionel Messi having a slow season?
To the shock of every fan who is not following the French soccer scene religiously, Lionel Messi currently stands at the 9th spot on the goal scorer board. Having only scored 9 goals this season, he seems to be having a slow season.

However, whatever may the goal numbers say, Lionel Messi is fulfilling his role to his absolute best. He is in the 1st place cohabitating it with his soccer buddy Neymar in Assists. His main task is to make the game run, and he is definitely running the PSG offense. Setting Mbappe and Neymar up for a goal is what his Job description is in PSG. All and all PSG is just owning Ligue 1 right now, and it isn’t even close.
