Jose Mourinho had a successful spell at Real Madrid. The Portuguese manager masterminded Real Madrid’s 2011-12 La Liga title race by securing 100 points. Yet, despite the affection and mutual respect between him and the club, an ex-Los Blancos man doesn’t want the ‘special one’ back in the capital. Furthermore, he didn’t hold back while criticizing Mourinho’s brand of soccer. He also then named another soccer icon who could take over the club and deemed him to be the ‘ideal fit’.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is facing an uncertain future at the club after his links with Brazil. The club is looking at potential successors with Jose Mourinho rumoured to be a name on the list.

Guti Hernandez is a name synonymous with Real Madrid fans. Based on his recent comments, the former Spanish midfielder doesn’t seem to be a big fan of Jose Mourinho. Guti said, “There were times with Mourinho as a manager that Real Madrid were boring to watch, that is the truth. Mourinho is not the right profile to be the manager of Real Madrid”. After ruling out the Portuguese soccer veteran, Guti revealed his preferred choice for the managerial post.

He added, “Why should there not be a third time for Zidane at Real Madrid? There are managers who are the ideal fit for the club and can come back many times if they wish.” Considering the impact the Frenchman had as a coach, this seems the logical choice.

This is not the first time Guti has criticized Jose Mourinho. In the 2012/13 season, Real Madrid did not win a single trophy and Guti did not appreciate his attitude at the time. He told Marca, “When you’ve had your worst season, showing a bit more humility would have done us all a favour“.

While Guti might be a fan of Mourinho’s personality, his comments regarding the soccer icon’s tactical setup might not be very accurate. Mainly because in the 2011-12 season, Madrid scored 121 goals in the league, their highest-ever league tally, under Mourinho. Recently, the Roma boss responded to the speculations and links between Ancelotti and Brazil. Let’s dive deeper.

He called Ancelotti a ‘madman’ if he thought about leaving Los Blancos while the club still reportedly wants to stick with him. Furthermore, he deemed that Ancelotti was perfect for Los Blancos, while the club was perfect for him. It remains to be seen if the Italian veteran decides to continue at the Spanish capital or whether the project of coaching a fearless Brazilian side interests him better.
