Things are going well for Al Nassr on the pitch. They sit 2nd in the league and have dominated their Champions League group. Moreover, star man Cristiano Ronaldo tops the scoring charts in the league. However, there is a shakeup behind the scenes as the club is poised to welcome a new president. As per the latest reports, current president Musalli Al-Muammar will not be continuing any further as the club has lined up a replacement for him. Could this be a sign of a change of direction in the club?

Al-Muammar was appointed just in April and has lasted not even a year. It will be interesting to see whether the instability in the upper managers impacts the team’s performances on the pitch.

As per reports, Abdul Aziz Al-Omran is set to succeed Musalli Al-Muammar as Al Nassr’s president. Al-Omran currently represents the non-profit foundation of Al Nassr. Factoring in his experience and knowledge of the club, he makes the perfect choice to assume the duties of the president midway through the season.

Al Nassr has not yet officially communicated the reasons for the move. However, the writing on the wall was obvious for Al-Muammar. In Ronaldo’s first season at the club, the Saudi giants went trophyless. Although they finished second in the league, the expectations are different when you have a draw as big as CR7. Moreover, there were also reports that Musalli Al-Muammar would be sacked last season.

With Al Nassr 10 points behind Al Hilal, it seems unlikely that Al Alami can walk away with the SPL title this time around. Hence, it seems the upper management is wasting no time in laying their next plans for action. Regardless of disappointing results, Al-Muammar’s time at the club will be looked on fondly.
