August may have slipped away into a moment in time, but it won’t stop the domestic fixtures around the globe. As September arrived, on the month’s first day, soccer fans got to witness an exciting Saudi Pro League clash as Karim Benzema and Al Ittihad hosted Al Hilal at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium. Surprisingly, instead of Benzema, Aleksander Mitrovic stole tonight’s show.
Despite giving hope of recovering before the Saudi Classico, Neymar didn’t even make it to the bench. Luckily, they didn’t need the former PSG man as Mitrovic came to save the day. Going from trailing 3-1 in the first half to winning the game 4-3, there are no words to describe this emphatic game. But the soccer fraternity has so much to say!

The first half ended on a high note for the home side with a score of 3-1. Goals from Romarinho, Benzema, and Hamdallah gave Al Ittihad a perfect lead. Meanwhile, Aleksander Mitrovic didn’t let the first 45 minutes pass without scoring a consolation. Little did anyone know that trouble was waiting for Nuno Espírito’s side in the second half.
Interestingly, the game completely turned around in the latter half of the match. Somehow, Mitrovic hit his prime and managed to score two more goals, completing his hat trick and leveling the scoreline. Things become more interesting after Al Hilal’s Aldawsri somehow found the winner. Despite pushing all the right buttons, Al Ittihad failed to secure a victory. Consequently, the match left the entire soccer fraternity in disbelief. They have taken over the social media platform X.
Fans are now slandering Benzema in favor of Mitrovic.

Indeed, Mitrovic has stolen the limelight from Benzema. Consequently, he has also justified his price tag, which the Riyadh side paid. Furthermore, Al Hilal, who spent millions more than Al Ittihad, proved their investments were favorable, as Jorge Jesus’ side came out on top. On that note, let’s analyze the transfer activity of both sides.

It has mostly been a busy summer for almost every big club in the Roshan Saudi League. In the case of Al Ittihad, the Jeddah-based club made some remarkable shifts within the team. They managed to lure Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema and Chelsea star Ngolo Kante on free transfers. Notably, Liverpool midfielder Fabinho was bought for $50 million, while Nuno Espírito Santo also managed to bring his former Wolves star Jota for $31.3 million.
As for Al Hilal, the main highlight of the transfer is Neymar Jr., who came in for around $100 million. Meanwhile, another Brazilian, Malcom, was signed for $64 million and Wolves star Ruben Neves came for a fee that was $4 million slightly less than Malcom’s. Aside from these big names, Al Hilal signed other names including Aleksander Mitrovic ($57 million), Sergej Mitrovic Savic ($43 million), Kaliduo Koulibaly ($25 million), and Sevilla goalkeeper Bono ($23 million).
