Djokovic’s tennis career has been nothing short of a fairy tale as he continues to stay at the top. However, few know that he wanted to play soccer during his childhood days. He has followed soccer closely over the years and received praise from legends such as David Beckham and Francesco Totti.

Novak Djokovic is not the only tennis star who tried to pursue a career in soccer in their childhood days. Novak Djokovic receives praise from David Beckham and Francesco Totti

Beckham commented “Better left foot than mine” on his skills on the tennis court. Roma legend Totti reacted to the posts as well and noted: “Better with your feet…hahaha.”
Receiving a compliment from legends such as Totti and Beckham is the biggest praise one can get. Djokovic is an avid soccer fan and also follows European soccer regularly. He also participated in a charity soccer match in 2013. He was accompanied by F1 stars Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, for the match in Monaco.
Novak Djokovic is a huge AC Milan fan
Djokovic has been spotted at many soccer games in the past. However, not many know that he supports Italian giants AC Milan. Djokovic’s father was a professional soccer player, and they used to watch Milan together in his childhood.
“I’m a big fan of Milan and I’ll always be,” Djokovic said. “For me, football is second only [to] tennis. My father was a professional footballer and at home we always watch the Rossoneri’s games with great interest.”

Djokovic is also friends with former MLS striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently plying his trade with the Rossoneri. He wanted them to win the Scudetto last season. Ibrahimovic’s Milan won the Serie A last season, beating giants such as Juventus and Inter Milan.
