The moment Erling Haaland touches the ball in the opponent’s box, it will most likely hit the back of the net. But Haaland is no Lionel Messi. He won’t dribble his way before unleashing a lethal blow. He even touches the ball very little when compared to his peers. This is because his teammates such as Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Phil Foden have been providing him with the perfect assist on a platter. As De Bruyne’s absence has affected Manchester City #9, Silva is now on a ‘mission to have him more involved’, which adds to his lethal influence.
Erling Haaland is quite happy with rarely touching the ball, as his goalscoring prowess is unmatched. Silva, however, is not a big fan of the 23-year-old’s outlook. He says an increased involvement from the Norwegian will ultimately raise his game to deliver at ‘the right moments‘.

In an interview with Abola, Bernardo Silva spoke about his growing chemistry with Erling Haaland. Silva said he shares such a bond with the latter because he wants him to be involved more and up his game. “It’s trying to involve him as much as we can in the game because I know he’s a player who doesn’t need to touch the ball very often. He says it himself, that if he touches it once or twice and scores one or two goals he’ll be happy. But, in reality, the more involved he is, the more confidence he has so that, at the right moments, he can put the ball in the net,” said Bernardo Silva.
With Kevin De Bruyne out due to an injury, Erling Haaland has been receiving much lesser service compared to last season. At this juncture, the Portuguese midfielder has stepped up to be Haaland’s provider. Silva further added that he is on a relentless ‘mission’ to get #9 more involved. So far as the Norwegian and his current Manchester City team are concerned, it is paramount that he steps up his game.

Why is more involvement the need of the hour for Haaland?
Last season, when Erling Haaland broke goalscoring records, it was De Bruyne who gave him the most assists. The Belgian’s absence, therefore, is now taking a heavy toll on the former. Besides, rumors have it that KDB’s exit from Etihad is imminent. So the Norwegian will indeed have to go the extra mile to find success for a Man City side that will potentially be without its best midfielder very soon.

Moreover, the 23-year-old has already been facing flak for not mirroring his success in the Norway national team. Pundits have pointed out that the lack of service to the striker is at the heart of those shortcomings. Hence, it is vital that the striker takes up more responsibility to prove his critics wrong. Thanks to Silva’s dedicated mission, the Norwegian would perhaps get back on track to break his goal-record from last season.
