USWNT took on Brazil in their last game of the SheBelieves Cup on Wednesday. They came into the game, winning their previous games against Canada and Japan. They needed just a draw to win the Cup for a record sixth time. But USWNT had other plans as they beat Brazil, thanks to a golazo, from Alex Morgan and a second-half strike from MVP Mallory Swanson.

However, the strike in the third additional minute from super mom Morgan caught the eyes of the fans. Morgan left them in awe with her curling strike that gave the team a lead going into the second half.

The first-half strike from Alex Morgan leaves fans amazed

USWNT was in search of an opening goal when the game started. The opportunity arrived in the additional time of the first half. In the third minute of added time, Mallory Swanson got the ball, and she struck the ball towards the goal. However, the Brazilian defender blocked the ball that fell to Alex Morgan. 

Morgan beat the Brazilian player and hit a left-footed curler from the edge of the box. Fans went crazy as the ball nested in the top right corner of the Brazilian goal. The much-needed goal came just before the break. The goal made one fan compare it to the Bend It Like Beckham strikes and commented under USWNT’s tweet“Bend it like Morgan!”

It amazed one fan at how she made the goal look easy, while it left many in awe with the curl the soccer superstar got on the ball on its way to the goal. Other fans labeled the curler beautiful, and one heck of a goal, while another fan thinks it’s a contender for the Play of the Day.

The strike from Morgan lifted the spirits of the team going into the break. When USWNT came back in the second half, they started from where they left off. Swanson, who is in significant form, scored in the 63rd minute, making her a strong contender for the MVP of the tournament. She won the award after USWNT beat Brazil to lift the SheBelieves Cup.

Swanson scored her fourth goal of this year’s tournament in the 63rd minute. Fans voted her as the MVP of the tournament with the panel. She started the tournament by scoring two goals in a 2-0 win over Canada in their first game. She scored the decider in the second game against Japan as USWNT held on to the surge by Japan in the dying moments.

Swanson was again on target in the last game against Brazil, and it proved to be another winner. She is now the all-time top-scorer in the SheBelieves Cup history with eight goals. USWNT has won the annual trophy for a record sixth time since its inception in 2016.
