The Vanarama National League title race is nearing a dramatic end with two matchdays to go. Wrexham AFC is edging closer to the title, with Notts County also in contention. The world’s third-oldest club is leading County by four points and is in the driver’s seat to win the title and automatic promotion to the Football League Two.

Wrexham is in the position to win the title thanks to the last-gasp penalty save from Ben Foster against Notts County. Now a win from the last two games will guarantee Ryan Reynolds’ club the promotion to the Football League after 15 years. They last played in the Football League in 2008. Foster, after the recent win, revealed a tremendous promise made by the Deadpool star if the club gets promoted.

Ryan Reynolds’ promise to Wrexham players

Wrexham took on Yeovil Town on Tuesday. They came into the game after a disappointing draw against Barnet. After the Barnet game, Notts County reduced the lead at the top to one point, putting pressure on the leaders. The win against Yeovil Town was essential for Wrexham, and the players did it in style with three second-half goals.

It took the Red Dragons close to the title. It will be a significant achievement for the club and its owners if Wrexham wins the title and goes to League Two. Sharing the excitement of the owners, Foster revealed the promise made by Reynolds if the club achieves it at the weekend with a win.

Foster said“They’ve promised us a monster one at the end of the season. If we get promoted, they’re gonna take us away somewhere with a lot of flashing lights,” revealing Reynolds will give a massive party. Reynolds might attend the game against Boreham Wood at the Racecourse Stadium at the weekend.
