Quite literally, it is the most influential goal-scoring celebration of all time. Every single soccer player does it. Likewise, Stephen Curry’s ‘night-night’ celebration hovers around the sporting world after he hit it during the 2022 NBA playoffs against the Denver Nuggets. Thus, like most athletes, Trinity Rodman had her own ‘night-night.’

Rodman scored a blinder against the Houston Dash in one of the season’s best goals after dribbling past several players. After that, she hit the celebration, which garnered reactions online. Well, her inspiration behind it? She detailed her thoughts.

In an episode of Futbol W, Rodman explained the celebration. She stated, “Literally, no meaning, I think. It just came to me. Football has a lot of good celies and I got inspiration from that. So, no backstory. It’s just being stupid, honestly.”

She took her form from the Paris Olympics to the NWSL season, helping the Spirit along the way. They lie 2nd on the table with 44 points having four victories in the last five games. Yet, the celebration dragged away all the victory headlines.

After she scored the goal, she lay on the ground to one side and kept her hands underneath her head. It signified night-night, the one which Stephen Curry does. Although Curry doesn’t lie down on the ground and tilts his head to one side, Rodman took all the plaudits for her creative celebration. Talking about creative celebrations, the women’s game has seen multiple players showing off their skills on the pitch.

Notably, Megan Rapinoe, the legendary USWNT player, had her famous hands stretched out in celebration, which gained popularity. After scoring a goal, she ran to the corner and sunk in all the adulation from the supporters. It became iconic as we can see it in most soccer video games.

Likewise, Abby Wambach also displayed a unique celebration in USWNT’s match against Mexico. Despite the freezing weather, the player and her teammates created snow angels, capturing people’s attention worldwide.
