Meanwhile, it looks like the club already has set its sights on the next season. They bolstered their squad recently for the final stretch of the season. Ryan Reynolds’ club is linked with a move for a star striker from the third division. It will take some effort for the Hollywood owners to land the striker, followed by other clubs.

Wrexham AFC linked with third-division star

Football League One side Cheltenham Town forward is making a name for himself in the league. Cheltenham signed Alfie May in January 2020 on a two-and-a-half years deal. May has notched 16 goals this season in League One in 35 appearances. The 29-year-old is attracting interest from a host of clubs for his goalscoring exploits.

League One side Peterborough United is keen to sign the striker. Now, National League leaders Wrexham is showing interest in the Cheltenham forward. Ryan Reynolds’ club already has Paul Mullin in their ranks. May, with his higher league experience, can come in handy for the world’s third-oldest soccer club when they get promoted to the Football League Two. But they will have to fight off a competition to sign the forward.

Championship side Birmingham City approached Cheltenham last summer on the deadline day for the striker. However, Cheltenham rejected the offer and kept the striker. The goals from May have kept Cheltenham away from the relegation zone in League One. They are currently 17th on the table. May has scored four goals in the last four games for the club and is helping them to stay up for the next season.

Cheltenham will have to sweat it out to keep hold of their star striker with the contract nearing its end. The likes of Wrexham, Peterborough, and other clubs are already lining up for the 29-year-old star.
