Katia Aveiro, the 46-year-old sister of Cristiano Ronaldo, has often shown an unwavering sense of commitment to protecting her brother. Be it taking a dig at Lionel Messi or criticizing Fernando Santos for benching CR7, Aveiro has never minced her words when it comes to wholeheartedly backing her little brother. But, such a display of affection always comes at a price, and the Pop singer faces an accusation of living off the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner’s money and popularity. But Katie hits back nonchalantly as she celebrates the ‘gift from god‘.

In a recent interview with Nova Gente, Katia Aveiro spoke on how Cristiano Ronaldo offered their family a ‘better life.’ She revealed, “Everything I have I owe to him and people usually say ‘they live off of Ronaldo’ and I say ‘what if he didn’t? it would still be talked about.” Also, she explained why CR7 shows such commitment and care towards the family. “Before he was famous, who helped him and who was with Ronaldo?”, she asked.

“His sisters and his mother. It doesn’t make sense for him to have a lot and not share it with his family“, she said. Per Katia, such behavior was uncharacteristic of the soccer icon. Moreover, Katia admitted to being able to now handle criticism much better. She said discussions regarding her private life weren’t easy. However, she has developed an effective solution. Katia said, “I now use silence. It’s the best weapon.” And, it seems this approach is working well. The difference is night and day with how she responded to a similar criticism in the past.

Katia Aveiro believes she is more than ‘just’ Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister!

Katia Aveiro has, time and again, faced accusations of living under Cristiano Ronaldo’s money and fame. In an interview in September 2023, the Portuguese businesswoman made her stance clear that she wants to be seen as more than a sibling of a legendary soccer player. She revealed, “I’m not just Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister. There’s a mature Katia, isn’t there? A mother of three who does have the right to do new things.” To be fair to Katia, she has been successful in her own right and deserves her own identity.

She started her singing career, 19 years ago in 2005 under the stage name ‘Ronalda‘, a reference to Cristiano Ronaldo. Together with her brother, she wrote the song, “Vivo na Esperança de Te Ve”, to honor their late father Dinis Aveiro. Also, she composed the song, “Boom Sem Parar“, which garnered more than 3 million views on YouTube! She owned a restaurant in Brazil and identifies herself as an entrepreneur.

With such a diverse skillset, it is understandable why Katia Aveiro didn’t seem happy at the label of just being CR7’s sister.
