The trend of European soccer stars making a move to Saudi Arabia shows no signs of slowing down. Despite the transfer market being closed, persistent reports are suggesting that more players are thinking about following in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps. The latest name in the spotlight is Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, who is now linked with a potential move to join the #3 placed team in the Saudi Pro-League.

Al Ahli already has Edouard Mendy, Frank Kessie, Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin, and Roberto Firmino at their disposal. It seems they are keen to add more firepower to bridge the gap between Al Hilal, Al Nassr, and themselves.

German veteran Joshua Kimmich has become the latest European superstar to get linked with a Saudi move. As per Egyptian journalist Ahmed Ragab, the defensive asset is being eyed by Al Ahli. Likewise, Kimmich is also anticipating a proposal from Al-Malaki following communication from head coach Matthias Jaissle. Although the player has not voiced any contradiction, he is likely reserving judgment until an official offer is handed out by Al-Ahli. The decision hinges on the financial terms put forth by the club to secure the player’s transfer.

Notably, Joshua Kimmich is tied to Bayern Munich until June 30, 2025. So far, the Bavarians haven’t offered the midfielder a contract extension yet. Perhaps the 28-year-old might be looking for a new challenge and the Roshn Saudi League could turn out to be the perfect choice. Either way, he certainly would be a brilliant acquisition, not just for Al Ahli but in the Saudi League as well. While Al Ahli is looking to make an addition, they are simultaneously looking to offload one of their European stars.

As per an insider from Al-Ahli Jeddah, the club’s management is actively seeking to part ways with their initially appointed captain, Roberto Firmino. His exit would create space for a new foreign player to arrive during the upcoming winter transfer window. The club is open to either selling or loaning the Brazilian soccer veteran to teams within the league as well.

Despite an impressive hat-trick debut against Al-Hazm, he has struggled to find the net in his subsequent 15 appearances. Notably, the club is considering Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski as a potential replacement. Let’s see what happens.
