Giannis Antetokounmpo has become a minority investor in MLS club Nashville SC, joining an ownership group that includes Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon, her husband Jim Toth, and NFL star Derrick Henry. This isn’t the first time that Antetokounmpo has shown an interest in soccer. In fact, the Greek-born Forward is a self-proclaimed fan of the sport.

It’s not just Antetokounmpo’s name that’s helping to generate excitement for the team, however. The Greek Freak is joined in the investment group by his three brothers – Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex – making it a true family affair.

The news announced via Nashville SC’s official Twitter account on Thursday, sent fans of both the NBA and MLS into a frenzy, with many lauding the 24-year-old Antetokounmpo for his business acumen and vision.

In a sit-down with ESPN, Giannis Antetokounmpo talked about his latest investment – in Nashville FC. He expressed his love for the sport, saying how his father used to play soccer professionally for Nigeria and Germany. “It was the first sport I fell in love with in Greece,” Giannis said.

Going into more detail about the investment, Giannis stated how he and his brothers had no hesitation in joining the team when they explored the idea of the Nashville SC. “I couldn’t be more excited to join the Boys in Gold, and can’t wait to come to a match at GEODIS Park soon!” he added.
It’s not just about the investment for the 28-year-old. His father’s legacy is also key in this decision. “I know he’ll be so proud of us today, that this is happening,” he said. “It’s not just the investment part of it. There’s a part of it that’s a legacy, that for us, it’s for generations to come that we’re part of this”.
