Barcelona Soccer Clubs’ Golden Girl Nominated for 2023 Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award

Women’s sport is getting more and more popular worldwide. It still has a long way to go but, it came so far ahead. The reason for this boost in popularity and viewership of women’s sports is a few names that have completely changed the future for the coming generations. Laures nominated many of such names for recognition, including one Barcelona Femeni starlet.

Laureus World Sports award is a very prestigious award given to the most influential and decorated entities of the sports world. A total of six categories sum up this award. Sportsman and woman of the year, a team of the year, the comeback of the year breakthrough, and action sports person of the year.

Barcelona star nominated for World Sportswoman of the Year

They announced the nominees of the prestigious Laureus awards. One name among many is of soccer wonder star and Barcelona’s pride, Alexia Putellas. She has scored a nomination for sportswoman of the year. Bringing her incredible run with Barcelona to a whole new level.

Alexia signed with Barcelona in 2012 and has been the backbone of the club ever since. She had played 293 matches for Barca in which the star midfielder scored 134 goals. Far more than some of the strikers and forwards of her league.

The fight isn’t over, though. There are other equally capable names in her category. Names like Tennis star Iga Swiatek, swimming starlet Katie Ledecky and many more. This announcement has certainly brought some storm in the soccer community.

It is definitely a moment of pride for not only the player and the club, but also for the entire community. However, she isn’t the only name from soccer nominated for the awards. For sportsman of the year reminiscent of the Qatar WC final, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe will be against each other, along with Rafael Nadal, Stephen Curry, and others.

For the team of the year, they nominated World Cup Champions Argentina along with the England women’s soccer team and Real Madrid.
