Jadon Sancho brought in big hopes after his move to Manchester United. However, after a successful run with Borrusia Dortmund, he struggled to meet his new team’s expectations. The English forward has found himself banished from the team and is now reportedly seeking a return to his former club.

Underwhelming performances and off-field drama have marred Sancho’s time at Manchester United. Following a dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, the talented player has been excluded from the squad and has yet to make an appearance for the club since August.

As the January transfer window approaches, it is becoming increasingly likely that the 23-year-old will part ways with the team. Recent reports indicate that Jadon Sancho wants to return to his former club, Borussia Dortmund. Even Dortmund is said to be closely monitoring his situation at Manchester United.

If things stay the same way, a return to Dortmund could be on the cards as soon as next month. Such a move could be the best decision for the young forward. Jadon Sancho’s performance was at its peak while playing with the German side. Over a span of three seasons, he scored 49 goals and provided an impressive 60 assists.

In contrast, his tenure with Manchester United yielded only 12 goals and 6 assists across 82 appearances. Also, his relationship with Ten Hag has shown no signs of improvement, and the coach’s refusal to play him until he apologizes only exacerbates the strained situation.

Why is Erik ten Hag not playing Sancho?

The Ten Hag- Sancho saga started when the manager decided to bench the English winger during a match against Arsenal. After the game, the Dutch manager explained his reason for dropping Jadon Sancho, citing his lack of performance in training.

However, the winger was dissatisfied with this explanation and took to social media to defend himself, assuring fans that he had been fully committed to training and told them, “Please don’t believe everything you read!” This response did not sit well with the coach, who demanded an apology from Sancho in return.

The Englishman has still not offered an apology and Ten Hag has made it clear that he will not include him in the lineup until one is given. Considering these circumstances, a return to his former club could be a beneficial move for Jadon Sancho’s career.
