Wrexham AFC Executive Director shares the incident involving Ryan Reynolds

A few months back, Wrexham Executive Director Humphrey Ker, while speaking to SiriusXM FC radio station, shared how Reynolds broke the news of a transfer on social media. Ker said, “We signed a player in the summer. I think it was Elliot Lee who came from Luton Town, and obviously, we conclude the business a little before we released the information to the fans. Ryan and Rob were informed this guy is joining us. Ryan goes and follows him on Instagram. And Bang! It is all over Wrexham Twitter immediately.”

Fans following Reynolds on Instagram after noticing it broke the news everywhere. It resulted in Wrexham announcing the signing the same night. The signing came as a big boost for the fans as the club is striving for promotion after missing out on it last season.

Elliot Lee arrived at Wrexham from the Championship side (second tier of English soccer) on a free transfer this summer. The English striker has made 22 appearances so far and scored four goals. Wrexham sits second in the table and is again in contention for the playoffs to promotion.

Wrexham AFC continues to impress this season

The club is second in the league with 50 points from 22 games. They are four points behind the league leaders Notts County with a game in hand. If they win their next game, they will be just one point behind Notts County.

Wrexham AFC finished second last season and was in the playoffs for promotion. However, their defeat in the semifinal against Grimsby Town crashed their dream of qualification. It would have been a great first season for new owners Reynolds and McElhenney had Wrexham been promoted. The first transfer window under new owners was good as they were able to rope in players from higher leagues and again strive for promotion this season.
