Asked in a recent press conference if she was worried about Albert missing out on Champions League play, Emma Hayes replied definitively. “No, I’m not worried. They’re still playing competitive games week in, week out. They’re playing at a high level in the French league and are competing for titles there.”
For Emma Hayes, it’s less about a particular competition and more about the way players tackle challenges on a daily basis. “The yardstick isn’t that you have to be playing in the Champions League. You have to be testing yourself at the highest level; you have to be performing consistently,” she added. Hayes believes in Albert’s skills, not just his club’s reputation.
