Did you hear? There’s a soccer baby on board! Well, keep your felicitations ready for Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis as the powerful couple in the women’s game have officially announced their pregnancy. The news came just a moment ago, which has also set the soccer world ablaze with congratulations and celebrations for the star players.

The announcement came via their Instagram accounts. Both Kerr and Mewis shared a cute collage picture that had four adorable shots of themselves via a collaboration post. In the shared picture, the two love birds can be seen holding a picture of an ultrasound of the baby in some lovey-dovey poses. Additionally, they wrote a caption saying, “Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025!”

Notably, it’s Mewis who appears to be pregnant as one of the clicks saw Kerr pointing towards the USWNT star’s stomach. This suggests that the 33-year-old West Ham United midfielder won’t be available for action and will be on maternity leave until the time she delivers the baby. As suggested by their heartfelt and celebratory caption, that will be most likely around August 2025.

Although they haven’t revealed the gender of the baby yet, it would be interesting to see if they do in the near future as ardent fans would be eager for that to know. In the meantime though, it’s set that the two lovebirds will be preparing themselves for the parenthood life ahead and plan their future accordingly.

Interestingly, rumors about Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis being in a relationship began circulating after their now-iconic photo together, where they were seen hugging on the pitch following the USWNT’s victory at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Eventually, Kerr confirmed their relationship shortly after on Instagram, not just because of the picture.

It wasn’t until last year that the soccer stars got engaged. That also came to light when Kerr was spotted wearing a gold ring on her wedding finger in September 2023, with Mewis later confirming their engagement in November. No wonder after the latest development, congratulations and celebrations had to be in order as it set the comments section on fire.
