Chelsea FC is having a forgettable season for the second consecutive season, floundering in the middle of the table. But it seems like the club is not getting mercy, as was recently teased by former rival Mesut Ozil. Recently, Chelsea was taunted for its decision of selling Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid. But why would anyone try to bring in the former defender for the current season’s debacle while somehow including ‘Erling Haaland‘ into the discussion?
The team from west London has been trying everything they can to get back to their previous form. The club has seen a drastic change immediately after losing its former owner, Roman Abramovich. Hence, Ozil takes a digs at the past to troll the 2022 UEFA Champions League winners.

No club would know better than Chelsea just how good Antonio Rudiger was. The defender proved a match winner on a few occasions for the club. Therefore, the club was forced to think again about his value. Ozil replied to a tweet by writing, “Prime Toni Rüdiger is just the world’s best defender at the moment 🔥 Incredible season for my former club Real Madrid. You can also ask Haaland or Osimhen how good he is! Look what has happened with Chelsea after he left … they are missing his mentality every day … 👊🏼”

Rudiger is considered to be one of the best defenders currently after his match-winning goal, which helped Real Madrid maintain the top spot in La Liga. Ozil pulled two of the most dangerous current strikers, Erling Haaland and Victor Osimhen, into the conversation as they both were marked excellently by the German center back.
Haaland played just two games against the German international in the previous season’s Champions League games, in which he wasn’t able to score a single goal. However, Manchester City scored four goals in one of the legs, knocking Real Madrid out. Additionally, the star also blocked Napoli striker Osimhen, who hasn’t scored a goal in two games against him.

Chelsea is chastised for leaving Rudiger
Despite huge spending, Chelsea is currently placed 10th in the Premier League table and finished 12th last season. They have let go of players like Mason Mount, Jorginho, and Rudiger. But selling the Real Madrid defender could torment them, as he is proving to be a wall in Carlo Ancelotti’s backline.

The defender also provides some valuable goals, with the most crucial one manifesting in the 2021 Champions League quarterfinals. However, it was a similar match-winning header yesterday against Mallorca that received praise from his German compatriot.
