The 2023 season isn’t finished but Real Madrid is already planning for next year. For starters, it seems like the Spanish side has finally won the race for their long-term target, Kylian Mbappe, as the Frenchman has reportedly agreed to join the club. But it seems they won’t just settle with the PSG ace, as they have inquired about the release clause of Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian superstar is a target for many elite clubs, with Real Madrid being one of them. So what’s the price they would have to pay in order to acquire Haaland’s services?

Earlier, it was reported that Manchester City wouldn’t be freeing Erling Haaland for less than €200 million, or $218 million. However, their stance seems to have changed, as according to the reports from Diaro AS, the release clause for non-Spanish clubs is just €100 million, or $109 million. This is significantly lower than the City’s actual asking price. Notably, Haaland’s contract with the Sky Blues will expire on June 30th, 2027. However, his affordable price tag can give Real Madrid a major boost in pursuing him to sign for the Spanish capital.

In fact, other clubs like PSG and Bayern Munich can also enter the race for him. FC Barcelona also dreams about the 23-year-old star, but the Catalans would need to sort out their finances. Although City can fend off the interest of all the clubs by offering Haaland a new contract, the player rejected the idea of extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium. Either way, it would be interesting to see if clubs, including Madrid, will bring him this summer, given that they are already bringing Mbappe. Speaking of which, the Frenchman won’t be getting a bigger paycheck.

Kylian Mbappe will be making just ends meet at Santiago Bernabeu
Mbappe is in the final six months of his contract with PSG. The 2018 World Cup winner will walk out of Parc des Princes as a free agent and join Real Madrid. However, the Spanish side is not planning to present him with a substantial salary offer this summer, which the Parisian ace is aware of.

Additionally, the club has purportedly established a deadline in mid-January for the player to decide on an eleventh-hour possible transfer. This also gives Luis Enrique’s side to find suitable replacements for their No. 7 until the 2024 summer transfer window. Either way, these are some crucial months for Mbappe and PSG.
