David Beckham, the co-owner of Inter Miami, has been in talks to rope in Franco Armani and Enzo Perez from River Plate before the end of the transfer window. Martino was hesitant to comment on the players until they were officially signed to the club. But he did praise their careers and quality of play for the Argentine side.
In a recent interview, he remarked, “It’s not necessary to make an assessment of Franco’s and Enzo’s preferences, They are players of the highest quality.” Martino also added, “They are players with a long career, at the highest level, there is no need to clarify whether I like them or not. It’s clear that they are very respectable players”. Tata Martino also recognized the need for a high-quality squad rotation. He preferred to have “four or five different teams” to strengthen the MLS side for the upcoming fixtures.
Franco Armani, the Argentine goalkeeper, signed a contract extension with River Plate in February 2022 that will keep him at the club until December 2024. Enzo Pérez, on the other hand, had a contract that would be expired on December 2023. The Herons could have a perfect opportunity to sign the Argentine players this season. It would mean improving the team’s goalkeeping and midfield positions.
The Herons will play their quarter-final tie against Charlotte FC on Friday in the Leagues Cup. Ahead of it, Martino also lauded Lionel Messi for his impressive performances.
