The FFP allegations have become an albatross around their neck for Manchester City. The club can’t seem to get away from their allegations, with rival fans not allowing the side to even celebrate their title triumph in peace. A section of fans questioned Man City’s achievements claiming the team would not have managed to do so without bending the rules. However, while the team has been under fire, the players have found support from multiple top pundits.
In his recent appearance on BBC Sports alongside Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker, former Arsenal icon Ian Wright said the FFP charges don’t take anything away from Manchester City’s hard work. Wright claimed, “In that Treble documentary if you watch them and the drive and the determination to do what they have done. It’s unbelievable and it’s unfair that they have got all this wrapped around them.”

Newcastle legend Alan Shearer seemed to have a similar opinion with the English legend stating, “Not for these players. No, because they have to go out and it’s not their fault. They just have to go out there and perform on the football pitch. The club will have to answer the charges but those players have been superb and you can’t take anything away from what they have achieved.”
Multiple experts have stood up for the Sky Blues in recent hours with the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Micah Richards, and Thierry Henry defending the team. Despite the FFP scandal around the team, it’s important to understand that the players are not involved in anything behind the scenes with their only objective set to deliver results.

Guardiola stated, “We competed incredibly well again, and at the end, for a little margin, we won it, we did it … We have done something incredible. If I landed here tomorrow and they would say that in the next seven years, you will win six Premier Leagues, I would say ‘are you crazy?’ It’s the Premier League, it’s the toughest one. This is the toughest for many reasons, the lack of recovery.”
