The Designated player rule in the MLS allows a club to sign three players excluded from the team’s salary cap. Inter Miami went ahead and acquired three superstars: Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba. All of them played for Barcelona and are a part of the history of the soccer club. Now, they play for Miami, aiming to lift another trophy when they face Houston Dynamo in the final of the US Open Cup. However, the opposition team coach focused his attention on another player who, he thinks, should be a DP-level player.

The 21-year-old Facundo Farias stole the show this season after he arrived from CA Colon. The attacking midfielder led the team in creativity with Messi, which is a testament to his game. Houston coach Ben Olsen detailed about the player in the pre-match press conference. With Lionel Messi nursing an injury, he could be critical for the team.

Farias started nine games for the club and scored three goals while creating one assist. The midfielder is adept in progressive carries and key chances created. He links up well with the Inter Miami players, proving to be the difference in many games. Significantly, before the final, Olsen explained how Farias possesses the talent to come under the DP spot.

Olsen stated, “I don’t know how we get this guy. I think he’s a lovely player … on any other team, he’s a DP-level player.” To receive praise with Messi, Alba, and Sergio on the team speaks volumes of his talent. His career started with Escuela de Fútbol UNL. The Argentinean received a call-up to the Argentina U17s team to showcase his talent in 2019. Just 21, to play with Messi would be a dream for him coming from Argentina.
