A resolute Austrian defense put the famed French attacking unit to the bay. Unfortunately, an own goal by Maximilian Woeber meant that Didier Deschamps’ side walked away with all three points. But France is not in the mood to celebrate; particularly after what happened with Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann, who started yesterday’s game, suffered a brutal head injury in the second half. The playmaker was in a tussle with Leeds United star Maximilian Wöber on the touchline. The Frenchman came off second best in the duel and landed headfirst onto the advertising boards. As such, the Atletico Madrid star was left with a bloodied face, with the supporters anxiously watching on.

Immediately after the fall, the medical staff rushed to the aid of the injured star. Antoine Griezmann had a deep cut on his forehead and received treatment on the pitch. Thereafter, he was treated outside the pitch to avoid time wastage. Ultimately, he did return with a thick white bandage on his head. The plan did not work as expected, unfortunately.

Soon after, the bandage fell from his head. While Antoine Griezmann did attempt to change the headgear, the effort was unsuccessful. Eventually, he threw it on the ground and continued the match without it.

Now, Antoine Griezmann’s availability for the upcoming match against the Netherlands is in the air. What is encouraging is he played for 89 minutes before being replaced by Youssouf Fofana. Regardless of the Griezmann situation, there is some positive news for the French supporters.

An encouraging update on Kylian Mbappe

Just like Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe was another player who suffered a nasty injury yesterday. In an attempt to win a header, Kevin Danso elbowed the attacker in his face. It was a blood fest and Mbappe soon left the field. There were concerns that his Euros might have been over!

However, new updates by the French Federation have alleviated many of the concerns. Firstly, Mbappe will not require surgery and will receive treatment in the coming days. Secondly, he is expected to feature against the Netherlands in the upcoming match.

As a matter of fact, the French Federation has confirmed that the prolific attacker will don a mask. It seems Mbappe is already intrigued by the possibility. As such, he has already asked for mask ideas on social media in a tweet. Should we wear a mask and play? Let us know in the comments below.
