“How Does This M*therf*cker Fail Upwards” – US Soccer’s Decision on New Coach Amidst Gregg Berhalter’s Domestic Violence Row Faces Strong Backlash From Fans

US Soccer has been in the public eye for a few days now. The level of controversy and shock for the fans keep increasing daily in the US camp. It’s publicly known that the USSF is currently plagued with the ‘Reyna-Berhalter’ controversy. Apart from that, US Soccer needed to appoint a head coach for the USMNT after Gregg Berhalter’s contract expired on 31 December 2022.

However, the US Soccer board has made its decision. But they’ve decided to hire an interim head coach. US Soccer announced their decision to make Anthony Hudson the interim head coach a few hours ago.

The USMNT fans are completely bemused by this decision, considering Hudson’s previous managerial record.

Who did the US Soccer hire as the new manager?

There’s already a lot happening in the US Soccer camp. While the fans thought that nothing more could possibly go wrong, US Soccer has shocked its fans with the new managerial appointment. Anthony Hudson is an English-American soccer manager. However, Hudson’s last managerial spell was at Colorado Rapids and it was dreadful.

The American soccer manager ended his two-year spell with the Rapids in 2019 with a dreadful 8-26-9 record. Hudson’s spell with the Rapids ended in controversy after the club terminated his contract. Prior to the sacking, Hudson passed a few comments on the board calling out their ‘lack of spending’.

Let’s look at how the USMNT fans have reacted to the appointment of their new manager.

No USMNT fan can actually wrap their head around this decision taken by the US Soccer board. However, fans are trying to convince themselves that this appointment will merely be a short-term one.

What is the ‘Reyna-Berhalter’ controversy?

The ‘Reyna-Berhalter’ controversy has spread like wildfire in the last few days. On December 11, somebody contacted US Soccer and leaked ‘sensitive’ details about Berhalter’s past to them. US Soccer immediately launched an investigation into the same.

In the meantime, Berhalter released a statement explaining those sensitive details. In 1991, Berhalter was out drinking with his now-wife Rosalind. The couple had a heated argument in the bar and Berhalter kicked Rosalind in the knees. However, a few months later, the couple got back together and continued to live happily.

Just a few hours ago, U.S. soccer star Giovanni Reyna’s mother, Danielle Reyna told Fox Sports that she and her husband were the individuals who leaked the information. The main reason why they did this is that their son was mistreated, according to them at the FIFA World Cup.

However, the USMNT soccer fans still cannot understand why anyone would do that.
