FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is around the corner. Teams are gearing up for the tournament that will take place in Australia and New Zealand. Several nations announced their rosters. And the much-awaited USWNT squad is out. 

US Soccer announced its roster with a month to go, and it excited fans to know the players traveling to Australia and New Zealand. However, USWNT did the unthinkable to announce the players that have caught the eyes of the soccer fraternity.

Fans react emphatically to US Soccer’s announcement video

US Soccer was at its creative best when it made a roster announcement. At first, they announced three players traveling to Oceania for the World Cup next month. The revelation came on the Today show. Fans expected the same for the remaining squad’s revelation. But US Soccer had something else on its mind. They dropped an exciting video on the given deadline, surprising the fans.

It kicked off with President Joe Biden and the first lady making a statement. And soon, various celebs joined the suit, announcing the name of the members on the roster. Big Shaq, John Cena, and Taylor Swift were a few, amongst others. The announcement soon garnered the attention of the fans, who were excited by the way US Soccer announced the squad for the World Cup. One fan wrote, “This announcement video is brilliant! Congratulations to all selected!”

A few fans labeled the video as rocking, while a few fans enjoyed every minute of the video. 

What excited most fans was US Soccer getting Joe Biden, John Cena, and other massive names to drop the roster. The star power announcing the star-studded team enthralled the fans.

Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, and Kelley O’Hara will play in their fourth World Cup. The debutants Trinity Rodman, Sophia Smith, Alyssa Thompson, and Lynn Williams will accompany Morgan and Rapinoe in the attack. Experienced Julie Ertz, Lindsey Horan, and Rose Lavelle will be joined by the first-timers Savannah DeMelo, Kristie Mewis, Ashley Sanchez, and Andi Sullivan in the midfield.

Defenders Alana Cook, Emily Fox, Naomi Girma, and Sofia Huerta will play their maiden World Cup. Crystal Dunn, Kelley O’Hara, and Emily Sonnett will complete the defense for the USWNT. Chicago Red Stars goalie Alyssa Naeher also makes the roster for her third World Cup. Debuting goalkeepers Aubrey Kingsbury and Casey Murphy round off the squad.
