Ange Postecoglou had an eye-catching start to his Tottenham career. In his first 3 months in the English division, the Australian was voted the Premier League manager of the month. But, the recent months have not been too kind to the former Celtic boss. In the last 6 games, Spurs had 5 defeats! The loss against Manchester City was particularly painful for Postecoglou as he admitted to getting ‘real anxiety‘ within.
In a recent presser, the Tottenham boss admitted to misreading the match atmosphere. He said, “That is probably the worst experience I’ve had as a football manager in a game because once I realised that I got it wrong in terms of what the atmosphere was going to be like and what people felt.” Ahead of the match, Tottenham were in the race for for the Champions League spots. A win against Manchester City could have helped Spurs pip Aston Villa to 4th place. However, the attitude of the supporters puzzled the Tottenham boss.
Instead of cheering their team on, Spurs fans wanted the side to deliberately lose to Manchester City. The rationale was that it would hurt the title chances of their fierce rivals Arsenal. As a result, the supporters even cheered when Guardiola & Co. scored. This support for their opponents worried Postecoglou. He explained, “I got a real anxiety within me of what happens if Man City, who are the best team in the world, beat us 5-0.”

The manager added that such a result would have led to his integrity being questioned. Fortunately, the scoreline was 2-0 in a competitive display. While Tottenham fans are overjoyed at hurting Arsenal’s prospects, Spurs might have indirectly helped the Gooners ahead of the final match-day.

Manchester City could be without 2 superstars for West Ham game
The Tottenham game gave Manchester City an injury headache. Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and goalkeeper Ederson have suffered injuries. The Brazilian has fractured his eye socket and is confirmed to be out for tomorrow’s match. On the other hand, KDB’s case is shrouded in uncertainty. The midfielder suffered an ankle injury against Spurs and per Guardiola, a final decision will be made only after training.
If KDB is unable to take part in tomorrow’s match, that could greatly benefit Arsenal. West Ham is not an easy opposition and the Belgian’s creativity would have been quite handy to disrupt their defense. In case, Manchester City draw tomorrow and Arsenal win their game, the Gooners will walk as the champion despite getting the same points. This is by virtue of their superior goal difference.
