“And Qatar… I Don’t Give a F**k” – Cristiano Ronaldo Stormed Out of an Interview After Questions Over FIFA Corruption Scandal in 2015

Cristiano Ronaldo is undeniably a global superstar. The legendary Portuguese soccer player is regarded as one of the game’s all-time greats. Over the course of his career, Ronaldo has amassed a large and diverse fan base.

However, there are massive disadvantages to being so popular. Fans worldwide take a keen interest in their favorite player’s actions and personal life. A sportsperson is judged for more than just his on-field accomplishments. And CR7 is a perfect example of that.

‘Controversy’ is a term that has always been around Cristiano Ronaldo. But Ronaldo hasn’t backed down either. The former Real Madrid star has a strong personality and he never shies away from giving it back, when necessary.

What happened in that interview with Cristiano Ronaldo?

Cristiano Ronaldo had tuned in remotely for an interview with CNN. The main purpose of that interview was to promote the new headphones that the Portuguese star had launched. While Ronaldo was all set to talk about his new ‘Monster’ headphones, CNN had another agenda altogether.

The interview didn’t start well. CNN reporter Andrés Oppenheimer did not bother breaking the ice. He straightaway asked Ronaldo about his views on the recent FIFA scandal that had occurred. At first, Ronaldo did not lose his temper. He mentioned that the FIFA scandal was not something he and his teammates discussed in the dressing room.

The Portuguese star takes off his headphones and says, “This is bullsh*t. Speak about FIFA, I don’t care about FIFA. And Qatar… I don’t give a f**k. What you want me to do? Speak about product, he speaks about FIFA … come on”.

The interviewer said he didn’t trust Ronaldo even after receiving a clear response. He then asked Ronaldo about FIFA’s decision to host the World Cup in Qatar. That was pretty much the end of the interview.

Ronaldo has been in and out of many controversies over the years. The most recent one was the interview with Piers Morgan. The Portuguese star wasn’t happy with how things were going for him at Manchester United.

But things took a drastic turn after the British television personality, Piers Morgan released an interview that he’d done with Ronaldo. The interview was basically Ronaldo speaking candidly about Manchester United.

He made his feelings about the club’s management known. However, that interview didn’t go down too well with the management at Manchester United. The former Real Madrid star’s contract was terminated with immediate effect.

Cristiano Ronaldo will now be a free agent in the upcoming winter transfer window after the FIFA World Cup in Qatar while being linked with Saudi club Al Nassr.
