Cristiano Ronaldo is now a free agent, having terminated his contract with Manchester United earlier this month. His future is still up in the air amidst rumors of a $200 million offer from a Saudi Arabian club. Ronaldo, however, is focused on the World Cup and is yet to decide on his future. However, amidst so much happening in his career, Juventus owes him a huge sum of money.

Juventus has been undergoing an investigation due to the inflation of transfer values and could face big repercussions. However, Ronaldo is reportedly demanding the salary owed to him from the early stages of the pandemic.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus stint was a highly successful one. The Bianconeri won several trophies, with Ronaldo at the helm. However, they bought him for a massive transfer fee, and with only one thing in mind: the Champions League. However, they couldn’t win a UCL with him and the player decided to leave the club last summer.

Ronaldo’s departure was a big hit for the Italian club, which failed to win a league last season and is no under scanner for financial wrongdoings. But the player has reportedly demanded the $20 million that is owed him from 2 years back.

Juventus owes Cristiano Ronaldo $20 million in secret payments

According to a recent report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ronaldo is demanding Juventus pay $20 million. It was reportedly agreed between the player and the club in 2020 when he took a pay cut. However, despite the pay cut, Ronaldo agreed with the club on a secret payment of around $20 million. Two years after taking the pay cut, the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner is demanding payment from the club.

Last year, Juventus’ Sporting Director Federico Cherubini admitted the club owes Ronaldo a considerable amount of money. While speaking to former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, Cherubini said, “€19m from the previous year and €9m from a year earlier, so €28m before taxes due to COVID.”

Ronaldo has reportedly hired a team of lawyers to study Juventus’ financial situation amidst the scandal. He wants them to study the club’s balance sheet before putting forward his request for the money owed.

Despite the investigation and the board resigning, Juventus has denied any wrongdoing. Earlier this year, the club announced a massive loss of €254 million which only goes on to prove the club’s poor financial shape. The club is yet to respond to Ronaldo’s demands.
