Wrexham AFC spent 15 long years in the Vanarama National League. The club made it to League Two after winning the league title in a record-breaking season. Notts County pushed Wrexham to the limits, but Ryan Reynolds’ club held their nerves and achieved their promotion goal.
The Red Dragons’ achievement didn’t go unnoticed. Many fans and celebrities around the globe showered praise on the Hollywood owners and players. Welsh Government wasn’t an exception, too. They decided to inject around $21 million into the club after promotion. The sum is over eight times the money Reynolds and Rob McElhenney invested to buy the club.
And now the Red Dragons could end 5572 days hiatus with League Two fixtures to be announced next month.

Wrexham AFC will know the detailed fixtures next month
The world’s third-oldest soccer club spent 87 years in the top four divisions of English soccer. However, the 2007-08 season came with misery, as the club found itself in the fifth tier after relegation. Wrexham got relegated with two games to spare and played their last game in League Two against Lincoln City on May 03, 2008, away from home. They managed to win the game, but it was too late.
The club came close to promotion last season. Wrexham finished second in the table but lost to Grimsby Town in the playoff semifinal. Now they could end 5572 days hiatus with EFL League Two fixtures to be announced on June 22. Wrexham will play in the first week of August and will learn about their opponents on the first day in the month.
Apart from League Two, the Red Dragons will also know their fixtures in other domestic competitions. Reynold’s club will likely commence its League Cup campaign in the week starting on August 07. Wrexham will start their EFL Trophy campaign on the week commencing September 04. The Welsh club will look to continue its form in the next season, and the generous sum provided by Welsh Government might come in handy.

As mentioned earlier, the heroics of Wrexham didn’t go unnoticed with the local government. They decided to inject $21 million into the club, which is way more than the $2.5 million invested by Reynolds and McElhenney. It comes at a perfect time for the club, who will look to upgrade the squad.
However, a significant sum could go into stadium upgradation. The owners want to develop the stadium and improve the facilities to make it world-class. The club has already started planning for life in League Two, with the US pre-season tour on the horizon.
