Paul Mullin is undeniably one of the key components behind the on-field success of Wrexham. Last season, the Englishman scored a whopping 32 goals in 40 matches to help the Red Dragons end their 15-year absence from League 2.

The talisman was expected to replicate his last season’s exploits in League 2 as well, but a devastating injury in the pre-season friendly against Manchester United has put him out of action from the start of the League 2 campaign. Due to a lengthy recovery, Mullin is still in the US taking things slow. As per his latest story, he was spotted enjoying an MLS match.

Denis Bouanga was the star of the match as the winger put on a show with his trickery and scored a hat-trick. Veteran Carlos Vela also went back in time with a magical brace. Overall, this was an entertaining match for a neutral to enjoy with a bunch of people. However, with Mullin out of action for the foreseeable future, the Wrexham coach is on the lookout for a striker to fill the gaping void.

But it comes with its own challenges. Finding a quality player this late in the window is a big challenge. Moreover, as time passes by, so will the price tag. Hence, Phil Parkinson admitted that it has been a real challenge for the Red Dragons. “That’s proving difficult because teams don’t want to sell their best players, it’s as simple as that,” he said.

Parkinson then revealed a couple of bids made by the team, but he wasn’t confident of them crossing the finish line. “We’ve got bids on the table for one or two players and we’re trying everything we can to get a player in as soon as possible. But when you’re going for a player who’s a key player at a football club, it’s not easy.”
