Over the years, the MLS has gained quite a lot of popularity outside the soccer universe. Due to the rise of soccer in America, many American businessmen are looking to actively invest in the sport. Recently, the American soccer league had an absolute ?breakthrough? moment on a global soccer chart. The announcement did raise quite a few eyebrows on social media. The chart simply shows the meteoric rise of the sport in the country.

Amid the rise of natural homegrown soccer talent these days, it is important to be thankful for soccer legends like David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, and many more who spent the latter stages of their careers in America.
On which list did MLS clubs make a surprise appearance?
Recently, Sportico unveiled a list of the top 20 most valuable soccer clubs in the world. Without a doubt, Manchester United topped the list with a $5.95 billion valuation. Followed by the La Liga giants namely Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively. However, there?s a major surprise appearance in that list too!
These are the world's 20 most valuable soccer clubs, according to @sportico.

2. Real Madrid: $5.23 billion
3. FC Barcelona: $4.95 billion
4. Liverpool: $4.71 billion

Three MLS clubs have also made it to this prestigious list of soccer clubs. Los Angeles FC with a $900 million valuation, LA Galaxy with a $865 million valuation, and Atlanta United with a $855 million valuation have made a surprise appearance on the global soccer list. Without a doubt, it was a proud moment for everyone working toward the growth of the sport in America.
These three soccer clubs are amongst six Premier League clubs, four Serie A clubs, three La Liga clubs, two Bundesliga clubs, and two Ligue 1 clubs. Also, all these clubs in this top 20 list represent more than $50 billion in value.
The MLS board is also taking efforts to make the league more competitive and exciting for its players and viewers.
A brief on Major League Soccer’s new format

Just this season, the MLS board introduced single-elimination Wild Card matches ahead of a refurbished Round One. The new additions also include a Best-of-3 series. Seeds 1-7 from the Easter and Western Conference will qualify for the ?Best-of-3? series. Apart from that, the #8 and #9 seed will play a bunch of Wildcard matches.
The winners of both series will then compete in the semi-finals, followed by the ultimate decider. Later, the champions of either conference will play one game against each other for the MLS Cup by Audi. To study the new MLS league format in detail, click here.
