On the back of a 3-0 win against Yeovil Town, Wrexham AFC has now reached the doorstep of automatic promotion. With only 2 matches to go, the red dragons are leading the table by staying 4 points ahead of Notts County. Winning the next game would undoubtedly put the nail in the coffin of Notts’ automatic promotional hopes.

However, amid all the celebrations and hoopla about the destined promotion, everyone forgot that the losing team got relegated. Yeovil Town faced the behemoth in a must-win match to save themselves from relegation. However, Wrexham had decided to book a speed ticket to the entry to the promotion.

Rob McElhenney’s empathy for Yeovil Town
While everyone forgot about relegation, McElhenney didn’t let it slip from his mind. Presenting an example of a class gentleman, the Wrexham Co-owner shared his empathy towards the fallen club. It was ironically, an American who understood the pain of relegation.

Yeovil Town’s nightmare season ended against Wrexham AFC in a heartbreak. Although two matches have yet to play in the 5th tier, those will be the last for at least one season. Meanwhile, Wrexham also only has two matches left in the 5th tier, although they are going up. Ben Foster has been a very integral part of this run after coming out of retirement. One Welsh soccer legend has seemingly got inspired by Foster.
