It was certainly an awkward moment at the MTV VMAs that took place earlier this week. After the controversial breakup saga with Pique and the mega-hit diss songs that followed, the Colombian singer was present at the 2023 MTV VMAs with her two children. However, it was an unexpected comment made by Bebe Rexha right in front of Shakira and Gerard Pique‘s 10 and 8-year-old kids while performing that raised eyebrows.
Shakira returned to the MTV VMAs after a 17-year hiatus where she was set to be honored with the Video Vanguard Award. The Colombian pop star attended the event with her two boys Milan (10) and Sasha (8), who also witnessed their mother bag prestigious awards.

Bebe Rexha, the 34-year-old American singer-songwriter grabbed eyes in a skimpy leather black dress that had holes at the back and a silky black horsetail attached to it. Rexha had a nomination for Best Collaboration for her song with David Guetta, ‘I’m Good (Blue)‘. During her performance, the ‘Meant to Be’ singer took the mic and turned around on stage saying, “Hi everyone! Look at my a**!”

But what was awkward was that Shakira’s kids were seated right behind Rexha. As the video shows, they were pretty flabbergasted by the 34-year-old’s comment. Meanwhile, Sasha and Milan proudly enjoyed the prestigious award ceremony as they witnessed their mother bag two well-deserved awards for her songs in 2023.

Meanwhile, Shakira’s ex-husband Gerard Pique took to X to make a cheeky and cryptic comment of his own. The former Barcelona and Spain defender tweeted “gg” after Shakira’s award win. While the tweet’s interpretation remains unknown, it looks like the pair’s beef is not completely resolved.
