Chelsea FC is going through a difficult era. Almost everyone wants answers from Chelsea owner Todd Boehly. However, in a time when everyone is busy targeting and criticizing the billionaire owner, he got support from his country’s soccer veteran.

Alexi Lalas in his podcast recently talked about the recent development in EPL. Chelsea has recently brought the fans into turmoil as they sacked manager Graham Potter after just 31 matches. The team is struggling and Boehly is in the crosshairs of fans for making some questionable decisions.

He spent around 600 million USD in the transfer windows last year. Considering that the team is arguably in the worst position in the EPL, the signing decisions have made this situation hard for Boehly to make sense of.

Alexi Lalas defended Chelsea owner

On his Podcast, USMNT legend Alexi Lalas talked about the chaos between Chelsea and Graham Porter. Meanwhile, he did admit that Todd Boehly looks lost as he had no idea how to control this situation. He also put up a comparison of Boehly with the previous owner.

He said, “If Roman was doing the exact same things right now, I don’t think by any stretch of the imagination people would be screaming and yelling about the rube or the delusion or the inability to understand what he, I’m talking about Todd has gotten himself into. And that American part of it would never be applied if Roman was doing this type of stuff.

Clearly, the mentality and the culture of spending money and hoarding players has always been there in Chelsea. However, this is the theory being implemented at its extreme. While he got notable supporters, he also has critiques to look into.

The London club is in ‘shambles’

One of the most prominent names targeting Todd Boehly is a former Sky Sports soccer presenter. Richard Keys slammed the Chelsea Owner for his management blunders. While he admitted that sacking Potter was inevitable, he called Boehly out on the fiasco of September 2022.
