Wrexham AFC has truly been blessed to have two passionate and generous owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Since their acquisition of the club in 2020, the Hollywood duo’s outstanding acts of goodwill towards Wrexham have been numerous. From helping out in times of COVID-19 to donating to children’s hospitals, they have also been earning the respect of the local community.

Just a few days ago, the two owners gave the people what they longed for almost 15 years. That was the miraculous promotion to the fourth division. Now, the Hollywood duo has again put a big smile on the face of many in the Welsh town.

Wrexham owners make generous donations

On the 1st of July, a charity soccer match will be played between Wrexham Police FC and FC United of Wrexham at Bronwen’s Green, Wrexham. The game is conducted to raise money for the Wrexham Maelor Children’s Ward. It is an effort to collect funds for new oncology equipment for the ward.

Though many donations have already made their way to the charity cause, a major surprise came in the form of Reynolds and McElhenney. The acting duo has made a generous joint donation of over $6000 for the cause. Alongside the donation, they also wrote a message saying, “Up the Town”. It is no surprise that the generous donation has caught the attention of fans, who have praised the Hollywood stars for their amazing act of kindness.

The donation has served to generate much-needed funds for the cause. This move was not only generous, but it was also timely. For a charity event to be successful, the financial support is critical. And Reynolds and McElhenney’s contribution toward the charity match will surely bear a difference.

However, they have been doing philanthropic gestures since they took over the club’s ownership. Just last year, the Wrexham owners donated to a charity named Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society after their star midfielder Jordan Davies’  baby, Andrew, was born not alive. And in January, Ryan Reynolds donated $1900 to Wrexham’s U-12 futsal team FC United of Wrexham. All these have seen a significant rejuvenation in the team spirit.
