Alex Morgan coming back—Is this the best news for USWNT fans or a risky move?

Is it all done for the USWNT legend Alex Morgan? Can she get to play soccer after hanging her boots up in the beautiful game? Such questions do creep into all the soccer lovers across the USA. Such is the aura of the striker who entertained and inspired everyone with more than 120 international goals. While they still try to get over Morgan’s sudden retirement, talks are already going on to bring her back to the field. A former teammate of the 35-year-old has now claimed that she is in touch with the star to lead her to play the sport once again.

People wonder if Morgan could get a farewell match with the USWNT, not that any reports suggest. Well, her former US teammate Heather O’Reilly, wants her to be back playing with her in the innovative TST soccer competition.

A netizen asked O’Reilly, “So @HeatherOReilly, you’re gonna invite @alexmorgan13 to play on your @TST7v7 team when she’s ready, right?” to which she replied, “Already texted her about it,” confirming that she approached Morgan.

The Soccer Tournament aka TST has become a huge hit, having reputed legends of the game and celebrities. Apart from the men’s tournament which started last year, it added a women’s version this time. The 7×7 matches with 20-minute halves and target score endings have already captured the minds of enthusiasts. But fortunately for Morgan, it’s the women’s champion that invited her to the tournament. US Women also included other teammates of Morgan like Ali Krieger and Carli Lloyd.

Meanwhile, Alex Morgan recently announced her pregnancy and her taking the field for the next few months is highly unlikely. However, the next edition of the competition is expected to be held in 2025 and whether Morgan would accept the offer and make a comeback will be interesting to watch.

The former Portland Thorns ace had to drop off mid-season due to pregnancy, leaving minimal time for her club and country organizers to arrange a mega farewell. But, the supporters want to see an official send-off for Alex Morgan by the Stars and Stripes after a few demands from the experts.

Although the San Diego Wave bid an emotional adieu from the pitch, they have already planned an extended send-off for their all-time top scorer. Their last home game on November 3 will host a program to show her legacy as a tribute.

Nevertheless, Morgan’s work in the sport hasn’t stopped yet. After her spell on the pitch, she is eager to take up entrepreneurship, which will elevate women’s sports in the USA. The California-born is already active through her Alex Morgan Foundation and business firm Togethxr.
