It was a good day at the office for the USMNT. Unlike a narrow win in the opening leg, the American boys rather had a blast over Jamaica during the return leg of the CONCACAF Nations League semi-final, securing a 4-2 win at St. Louis, Missouri-based CITYPARK. However, the focus remains shifted towards the Donald Trump-inspired post-goal celebrations from none other than Christian Pulisic. Luckily, Alexi Lalas was quick to arrive at the USMNT skipper’s rescue.

The commotion began just after 13 minutes into the clock. Pulisic had broken the deadlock for his side with a neat finish, courtesy of an assist from Weston McKennie. Interestingly, after scoring, the AC Milan star sprinted toward the corner to celebrate, leaping high, spreading his arms wide, shaking his hips, and pumping his hands near his waist. He danced for a few seconds before being joined by teammates who embraced him and patted him on the back.

While some viewed it positively, others appeared to be frustrated and turned their backs against the former Borussia Dortmund star. Then again, Alexi Lalas was quick to come to Pulisic’s support. The former defender initially took to X (formerly Twitter) and fervently tweeted, “Pulisic scores. Pulisic does the Trump dance. We’re winning the World Cup…bigly. 🇺🇸⚽️,” while sharing a collage of Pulisic’s dance.

Lalas’ support continued after moments later, a fan questioned the pundit, “Hey @AlexiLalas how will you handle not being the most hated Trump supporting American soccer player?!” Interestingly, Alexi responded, “I’m comfortable being the OG. Plenty of room. Besides, it’s not only easy now, it’s even becoming cool.”

Pulisic's Trump dance: A bold move or a step too far for USMNT fans?

Have an interesting take?

Of course, it had to be Alexi Lalas—a staunch Donald Trump supporter who actively campaigned for the 78-year-old throughout the summer. Unsurprisingly, Lalas was thrilled when he saw the USMNT captain mimic Trump’s shimmy dance. The iconic defender not only backed his former team to win the World Cup but also subtly defended the Serie A star.

Well, to be fair, in some ways, he managed to take a stand for others as well, who had been involved in Pulisic’s Trump-inspired celebration.

Who else joined Christian Pulisic to pull off the Donald Trump dance during USMNT vs Jamaica?

Christian Pulisic wasn’t alone in his Donald Trump dance celebration; the likes of Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, and Ricardo Pepi joined the Serie A star after their skipper scored the opener and started the shimmy dance. However, we reckon that if it had been up to the American players, they would have celebrated similarly after every goal—albeit the fact it didn’t settle in the eyes of many.

Notably, Pulisic and his teammates weren’t the only ones embracing the trend this week. UFC fighter Jon Jones performed the shimmy after knocking out Stipe Miocic at Sunday’s Heavyweight main event, with Donald Trump watching at Madison Square Garden. Additionally, five NFL players, including Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, also performed the dance, with Bowers admitting he was inspired by Jones.

Be that as it may, after such an emphatic display, we believe that even Mauricio Pochettino and other players must have joined Christian Pulisic to celebrate today’s win by doing the Donald Trump dance.
