San Diego Wave’s sacking of Casey Stoney took the soccer world by storm. It was back in January when the NWSL side extended her contract to 2027, with an option to extend it until 2028. Unfortunately, a lot happened in the last five months, forcing the Wave to make the tough call. While fans are trying to get over the shocking news, Casey’s star disciple, Alex Morgan, has finally dished out a much-awaited response to her boss’s dismissal.

Stoney’s partner and former teammate, Megan Harris, took to X and penned an emotional message where she paid tribute to her significant other. In the lengthy letter, Harris underlined Stoney’s achievements and how she and their three kids—7-year-old twins Teddy and Tilly and 4-year-old Willow—are ‘proud‘ of how far the manager has come. Interestingly, this caught the eye of Morgan, who replied, “Charlie will miss Teddy, Tilly, and Willow so much. Hope we all reconnect some point soon 🤍.”

Interestingly, Morgan’s connection with Stoney extended beyond the soccer pitch, mostly because of the USWNT star’s 4-year-old daughter, Charlie. The kids of both the player and the manager seem to have built a great friendship with the help of their moms. However, now the little ones won’t get to have their playtime reunion, as Morgan hopes they may cross paths soon.

Notably, San Diego Sirens, Wave’s first autonomous support organization, earlier took to X to honor Stoney for her service. Surprisingly, she even gave a reply saying, “Thank you Sirens!! You are incredible and I loved your support for the team from day one! Today I’m broken but in time I will be proud of what we all achieved together.” While many claim Stoney’s sacking as the most shocking one, wait till you hear about Bay FC’s latest announcement.

Alex Morgan and Co.’s rival also announced a major leadership dismissal!

Hours after San Diego Wave dismissed Casey Stoney, Bay FC announced the resignation of their general manager, Lucy Rushton. Rushton, who was responsible for player recruitment and development at Bay FC, will be succeeded by the club’s technical director, Matt Potter, who will now serve as head of football and interim sporting director.

Surprisingly, no specific reason has been stated regarding Rushton’s decision to step down from her role. She could have further helped Bay FC in many sporting aspects, considering she previously worked for MLS teams like DC United and Atlanta United while also serving as a senior analyst for England’s League One side, Reading FC.

Be that as it may, it’s clear that NWSL clubs aren’t afraid of making tough calls, even though it may be beyond everyone’s anticipation. Let’s see how San Diego Waves’ decision regarding Casey Stoney turns out to be.
