Is Erik ten Hag losing control of Manchester United with players like Garnacho showing dissent?

Alejandro Garnacho might seem to have called on trouble for himself. Much recently, Cristiano Ronaldo once again ignited his fury on Erik ten Hag, questioning the state of his former club Manchester United under his leadership. These interesting comments somehow made it to the social media in no time and Garnacho was found to be liking the post. While the Argentinian winger didn’t take time to reverse his actions by removing his like, the damage seems to have already been done.

Ronaldo, never shy about sharing his thoughts, recently took a sly dig at his former manager for doubting the Red Devils’ ability to win the Premier League and Champions League every year. “This is Man United! You have to be there, to mentally say… listen, maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try. You have to try,” said the 39-year-old on Rio Presents FIVE podcast. Everything seemed fine until CR7 doubled down on his criticism of the Dutch manager.

“This is why Man United need to rebuild. If Ten Hag listens to Ruud van Nistelrooy… maybe he can help. He knows the club and the club should listen to the guys who were there, as this is really important.” These words, shared by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, got a like from Garnacho, which may spell trouble not just for the youngster but even for the ardent United fans.

Grin and bear it with Marcus Rashford!

Coming from the academy ranks of Manchester United, Marus Rashford is perhaps the only player that fans had high hopes for. However, throughout the years, the receiver of MBE honor has given hot and cold performances. Last year must have been a breaking point for Red Devil supporters, as the 26-year-old notched just 8 goals and 6 assists in 43 appearances across all games.

A call from Gareth Southgate for the recent 2024 Euros wasn’t received as well, where his nation made it to the final for the second consecutive time. Surely, this saw United supporters finally give up on Rashford as now they demand his dropout from the starting XI. They even started counting for goals and glory from someone else, particularly any other forward in their ranks.

While Alejandro Garnacho remains the perfect man to replace Marcus, his off-pitch antics may throw shade over this possibility. Certainly, ten Hag wouldn’t be impressed with the 21-year-old subtly supporting Ronaldo’s criticism of the United boss. The former Ajax boss has every reason to chop off the youngster from the squad, considering this ain’t the first time such an incident has transpired.

Have an interesting take?

This may be strike two for Alejandro Garnacho!

This isn’t the first time Alejandro Garnacho has had disagreements with Erik ten Hag. Previously, he had liked several posts criticizing the former Bayern Munich assistant coach for making substitutions during a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in April. However, the 54-year-old later revealed that Garnacho had made amends for his actions. “He apologized for it and after that. We move on.”

Erik ten Hag is a testament to the fact that no coach will tolerate any kind of attitude or poor off-pitch behavior from a player. Might we remind you of Jadon Sancho? A player who was well-liked by several Man Utd supporters found himself in ten Hag’s bad books due to an off-pitch disagreement. Now again we have witnessed Garnacho doing the same. So it wouldn’t be surprising to see if he gets dropped to the bench.

Certainly, this would be something that neither the player nor the fans would want. For now, it remains to be seen whether Alejandro Garnacho has an explanation this time.
