Al Nassr‘s Cristiano Ronaldo put on a show during a recent match against Al Taee in the Saudi Pro League. The 38-year-old nearly recreated one of Lionel Messi‘s iconic assists. Ronaldo, who has been in superb form since joining Al Nassr, was unfortunately denied the opportunity as the goal was ruled offside.

With nine goals to his name, Ronaldo is currently the leading goalscorer in the SPL. His presence has undoubtedly had a positive impact on the team, as they are currently enjoying an impressive eight-match undefeated streak. The anticipation surrounding Ronaldo’s performance in the match against Al Taee was palpable, and fans eagerly awaited his next moment of brilliance.

Al Nassr got off to a strong start in the match against Al Taee. Talisca opened the scoring in the 32nd minute thanks to a perfectly placed assist from Ronaldo. The Portuguese striker and Talisca proved to be a formidable duo. It was clear that Ronaldo was intent on showcasing his skills and his ability to create scoring opportunities. And just before halftime, a golden opportunity presented itself in the penalty box.

Ronaldo, displaying his extraordinary athleticism, went for an overhead kick in an attempt to assist Talisca once again. The execution was near-perfect as the ball soared through the air, finding its way to Talisca who coolly put it into the back of the net. However, the goal was short-lived, as it was disallowed due to Talisca being caught in an offside position.

This moment was reminiscent of one of Messi’s iconic assists. The moment took place during the 2016 Joan Gamper Trophy match against Sevilla when Messi was still a part of Barcelona. In that match, Messi executed a breathtaking bicycle kick, setting up Luis Suarez for a headed goal. Ronaldo’s attempted assist bore striking similarities to Messi’s.

While Ronaldo’s almost-recreation of Messi’s assist was met with disappointment, it truly was a magical sight. Despite the failed chance, the Saudi team remains resilient and determined. It seems evident that the team will continue to grow stronger, especially with their plans to reunite Ronaldo with his former teammate.
