Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Al Nassr has laced up for some key movements in this ongoing transfer season. The club is close to either selling or loaning out star midfielder Seko Fofana. Selling aside, they are keen to buy new star players, having bid close to $27 million for Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal. But Al Nassr failed to lure Royal’s current employers, Tottenham Hotspur, as they quickly rejected the Saudi Giants’ multimillion-dollar advances. Nevertheless, the Riyadh-based outfit is not ready to give up on Emerson Royal, as per renowned journalist Ben Jacobs.

“Understand Al-Nassr haven’t given up on Emerson Royal, although he’s happy at Spurs,” Ben Jacobs wrote on X. Tottenham has not given Al Nassr a number they are ready to accept. The Brazilian defender had signed a five-year deal with the North London side in 2021. Which means he has more than two years remaining in his contract. Having splashed around $32 million on Royal for the five-year deal, Tottenham might listen to Al Nassr if they make a better offer.

Al Nassr continues their pursuit of Emerson Royal, perhaps to compensate for the lack of overseas talent in the right-back position. Cristiano Ronaldo’s side currently boasts center-backs and left-backs with European experience. But it is domestic players who serve as the team’s right-backs. Meanwhile, rumors also link other foreign talents, such as Harry Souttar and Koki Machida to occupy Al Nassr’s defensive fleet. Fans will wait and see how Al Nassr’s pursuit of a defender ends. But in a turn nobody has anticipated, Ronaldo’s former strike partner, Karim Benzema, is linked to Al Nassr.

Benzema to reunite with Ronaldo at Al Nassr? A surprising turn

Karim Benzema’s blockbuster deal with Al Ittihad has gone awry. Firstly, the club is struggling as the seventh seed in the Pro League table. This disappointing run comes after they won the league last season and signed a bunch of superstars, including Benzema. Besides the form, the Frenchman is also unhappy because of the hostility of the club’s fans and harsh criticism from the media. The former Real Madrid striker faces such vitriol despite scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 15 matches.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Benzema has asked out of Saudi to return to Europe, but the League insists that he stay in one of the Public Investment Fund-owned clubs, if not Al Ittihad. Notably, Al Nassr is one of the four clubs that enjoy the PIF’s backing. Considering Benzema has spent nine years with Ronaldo at Madrid, the two could work wonders if they pair up again. Nevertheless, rumors also link the Frenchman to Premier League clubs. But we cannot be sure if the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner will say no to an offer to reunite with CR7.
