Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr are at their wit’s end, unable to find a win in their last two matches. When CR7 served a ban and missed the Al Hazm game, Al Nassr settled for a lackluster draw. Thereafter, when the skipper returned, the Riyadh club lost against Abu Dhabi’s Al Ain in the AFC Champions League clash. Aggravating Al Nassr’s plight, a thigh injury has ruled out star striker Anderson Talisca for the remainder of the season. The worst part is that the club has added two more stars to their injury list.

Al Nassr plays Al Raed tonight at home. This game will mark Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi league return after he served a 1-match ban for an obscene gesture. Nevertheless, certain key roster spots remain vacant for the Knights of Najd.

Anderson Talisca, who scored 25 goals in 25 games for Al Nassr, will depart to Italy for treatment and return only next season. Amid Talisca’s injury woe, Sultan Al-Ghannam has reportedly sustained an injury too. Per reports, Al Ghannam would miss Al Nassr’s action for around four to six weeks. Since the Saudi international plays as a left-back, Luis Castro would have to bet on Alex Telles on the left flank. Besides Al-Ghannam, fellow defender Aziz Behich will also reportedly miss a month’s action due to an injury.

Al Nassr already has their reserve goalkeepers, Waleed Abdullah and Raghed Al Najjar on their injury list. Besides, Al Nassr’s main goalie, Nawaf Al Aqidi, and star center-back Aymeric Laporte are serving suspensions. Courtesy of these injuries and bans, Al Nassr is dealing with a deep hole in their defense. It will further mar the club’s poor record of maintaining clean sheets. These absences are all the more alarming for Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. considering Al Nassr’s season is striding to a climax.

Crucial days ahead for Cristiano Ronaldo and Co.

The ongoing Saudi Pro League will end in two months. Al Nassr continues as the league’s 2nd seed, nine points shy of the top-seeded Al Hilal. The top-seeded side has not lost even once in the league this season. Therefore, Al Nassr’s journey to the top of the table will heavily depend on Al Hilal’s match outcomes. Moreover, Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. should also make sure they don’t draw in a match, let alone lose a game in the remainder of the season.

Next week, Al Nassr plays Al Ain in the 2nd leg of the AFC Champions League QFs. It would be a Herculean task for Ronaldo and pals to prevail, considering Al Ain has the aggregate lead and injury woes haunt Al Nassr. Thereafter, Al Nassr faces Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final. Al Nassr has not won once against Al Hilal this season. With injuries adding up, it becomes all the more difficult for Castro’s team to buck that trend.
