The Al Nassr fans expect Cristiano Ronaldo to sign a new contract following his ambitions to retire at the club. The new contract would reportedly see him earning an extra $200 million on top of his already hefty paycheck. However, the club’s hierarchy is delaying those talks to safeguard the futures of the other critical players on the team. According to recent reports, Al Nassr will be tabling contract extensions to five other key players. Unfortunately, Ronaldo fails to make the cut, this time!
The 5x Ballon d’Or winner has been a tremendous hit at Al Nassr since he arrived. His performances have enabled Al Nassr to go toe-to-toe with leaders Al-Hilal and earned him the title of “No. 1 in the world,” according to coach Luis Castro. Hence, it seemed inevitable that Ronaldo would extend his stay at the club. Yet, there’s a new twist to the tale.

Notably, Ronaldo’s new contract would have seen the star playing for the Saudi Pro League side until 2027. This made perfect sense, considering 2026 is a World Cup Year, a tournament of immense significance to the soccer veteran. However, recent reports indicate that Al Nassr prioritizes the renewal of five other players instead. The players include Abdulelah Al-Amri, Mohammed Maran, Sami Al-Najei, Ayman Yahya, and Ali Al-Hassan, all of whom are home-grown players.

It is conceivable that they might be postponing the extension of Ronaldo’s contract, taking into account the significant financial commitments. Either way, Al Nassr should probably make it a priority to promptly address, the future of the SPL’s top goalscorer.

Al Nassr’s wage structure is perfectly aligned with contract negotiations!
While fans understand the influx of world-class players to the squad, home-grown regulations mean the club would need to keep a place for the young talents. Yet, finding the right financial balance would come across as the critical moot point!
They have players who earn high wages, apart from Ronaldo, and careful planning becomes critical to sustain the club’s future. After the Portuguese superstar, Marcelo Brozović is the second-highest paid player at the club with $1,22,20,586 per year. Defender Aymeric Laporte earns $85,69,651 annually, while Sadio Mane earns over $150,000,000.
