Manchester City could part ways with their first-choice goalkeeper Ederson this summer. The Brazilian has attracted the attention of multiple Middle Eastern clubs that are keen on roping in the shortstop. Ederson’s contract with the Sky Blues expires in June 2025. Higher-ups at Etihad believe this could be the right time to cash in on the goalkeeper considering his recent history with injuries. Backup goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has also been looking for a move away due to the lack of game time, and thus City could be forced to lose one of two this summer.

Former Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad have been interested in Ederson’s services for a while. The side had a rough campaign this season and wants to go big in the upcoming transfer window to bolster its ranks. Al Ittihad have identified Ederson as a priority signing, with the side reportedly submitting an initial $31 million offer for the goalkeeper. However, Manchester City are not too happy with the offer but are open to negotiating.

The Sky Blues fans are no different, as many laughed at Al Ittihad’s offer after it was made public on social media. Many believe Manchester City should do their best to keep hold of Ederson and only sell the player if they receive an offer that’s too good to refuse.

Manchester City fans mock Al Ittihad’s initial offer for Ederson

One fan claimed $31 million for the world’s best goalkeeper, which was not a suitable offer. While the price tag seems low, calling Ederson the best keeper in the world is somewhat of a farfetched statement. The Brazilian was not among the best shortstops in the Premier League alone, with the likes of David Raya and Alisson Becker putting in better outings than the Manchester City star.

Another section of fans claimed that Manchester City should not accept any offer below $50 million for Ederson. This seems like a better price tag for the goalkeeper. However, it’s tough to see how Al Ittihad would be willing to spend that sum for a keeper who’s in his thirties.

Another fan claimed that Manchester City should not even pick up the call based on the initial offer. However, from how things are at the Etihad, it seems like the Sky Blues are quite open to let the Brazilian leave come summer!

Another fan claimed Manchester City sold James Trafford to Burnley for almost $23.5 million, and selling Ederson for just $30 million doesn’t make sense. While there is some truth to the statement, it is important to note that Trafford is among the highest-rated talents in England at the moment, while Ederson is an injury-prone goalkeeper in his thirties.
