Inter Miami tried their best to reunite Lionel Messi with Luis Suarez in the January transfer window. The MLS club could not sign him as Gremio wanted the Uruguayan international to stay till the end of the season. However, after the ups and downs, the reunion is finally going to be happening this summer, as per reports. Amid Suarez’s departure, Gremio’s coach shared a heartfelt message for Suarez calling him an ‘extraordinary professional’.

Luis Suarez is set to leave Gremio after one season. The player gave his best to the team and fans. While he’s become quite the fan-favorite in Brazil, Inter Miami fans are eagerly waiting for the former Barcelona forward.

While Luis Suarez’s tenure with Gremio will come to an end in a few weeks, Renato Gaúcho confessed that they would miss him. As per UOL, he said, “He arrived and, since the beginning of the year, has helped us a lot. The fans were enchanted by him. He is an extraordinary professional on and off the field. I wanted to spare him, but he wanted to play all the games. And it doesn’t hurt. We will miss him, for sure”.

Renato Gaucho further spoke about how great Luis Suarez was for the club, on and off the pitch. He also revealed that everybody at the club tried to convince him to stay. He continued, “Unfortunately, it was very difficult for him to stay. Everyone wants it, but only this miracle can be reversed. Unfortunately, he leaves. The team is certainly going to miss the services of Luis Suarez. That brings up the question; how did his short but sweet phase pan out at the club?

Luis Suarez has been in brilliant goal-scoring form for Gremio this season. He has scored 23 goals in 51 games in all competitions. Whereas, Francisco Cristaldo is in a distant second with 11 goals this season. This proves that, even at the age of 36, the Uruguayan continues to regularly find the net.

Gremio fans will remember him for his hat trick on his debut, which helped the club win the Recopa Gaucha Super Cup. While the Herons cannot wait for Suarez to land in the USA, Gremio will have to find a lethal striker that can fill a gaping hole.
