The plan is clear at the STōK Cae Ras. Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson admits the League One is a ‘big test.’ As such, the Red Dragons are planning for a major squad revamp. As a part of the process, the Welsh club recently released 8 squad players! But now, it seems that Ryan Reynolds and co have now set their sights on incoming. Hence, the club is looking at a move for an experienced striker who is also an iconic figure in the Premier League.

Executive director at Wrexham, Humphrey Ker is keen on bringing Jamie Vardy to Racecourse ground. Regarding the same, he said, “There’s nothing to say that Jamie Vardy wouldn’t be a great Wrexham player. It’s not a name I’ve had mentioned inside the building before but, you know, age and profile wouldn’t put us off.” The 37-year-old has had an impressive season netting 18 goals for Leicester City in the Championship. His efforts also contributed to the Foxes gaining promotion to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the Englishman’s contract expires this summer, and he is yet to sign a new deal. Many clubs including Wrexham are keeping an eye on Vardy’s situation. if the deal with the Red Dragons goes through, he would come in a free transfer. There is no doubt that his Premier League pedigree would make him a great partner to Paul Mullin.

Nonetheless, Jamie Vardy holds the record for scoring in the most consecutive Premier League games (11). He did that in 2015 breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy’s streak. With Ryan Reynolds dreaming of seeing Wrexham in the Premier League, Vardy could be the man to spearhead the mission. However, convincing the player won’t be easy and Wrexham might already have a backup plan in mind.

Paul Mullin is a legendary figure at STōK Cae Ras. Even last season, the striker plundered 24 goals in 38 matches and played a major role in Wrexham’s promotion. Yet, even with all his efforts, he didn’t win the League Two Golden Boot. That honor went to Notts County star Macaulay Langstaff. However, the story is that Wrexham wants to sign Langstaff as a partner to Paul Mullin.

In 46 matches, the striker notched up 28 goals this campaign. However, a potential signing won’t be easy as Langstaff is expected to cost way more than the $440k spent on Ollie Palmer in 2022. Hence, a transfer would mean Langstaff would be the most expensive player in the club’s history. Perhaps, this could be why the Welsh club is also interested in other strikers like Jamie Vardy. Regardless, who in your opinion would be the better incoming? Let us know below.
