Ever since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham, the Red Dragons have witnessed a landmark shift in their fortunes. Thanks to the American owner’s influential background and super hit documentary, “Welcome to Wrexham”; the Welsh club has become a household name in the USA.
Thanks to their immense popularity, they have bagged major sponsorship deals. Furthermore, invitations to pre-season friendlies against European giants Manchester United and Chelsea also were granted. After the Red Dragons’ much-awaited fixture against the Red Devils, Rob McElhenney made an interesting comment on United’s polarizing away kit, which has divided the internet.

Wrexham owner lauds Manchester United’s latest away kit; sees shades of Philadelphia
Ever since Adidas announced their 2023-2024 away kit for Manchester United, the internet has been divided over its aesthetics. The design is an ode to the jerseys of the 90s with an uncanny color choice of dark navy green.
After Wrexham defeated Manchester United 3-1 in their pre-season friendly, Rob McElhenney was invited by Red Devils pundits Bryan Robson, Danny Webber, and Mark Wilson, and host Sam Homewood. The crew asked Rob to share his thoughts on United’s jersey and he had an interesting take.

McElhenney, unlike many, actually praised the colors of the kit. The jersey reminded him of his favorite NFL team Philadelphia’s shades of green and hence loved it even more. “Beautiful: that is close to Eagle Green!” praised McElhenney.
The Hollywood star also praised the enthusiasm shown by both sets of fans during their friendly.

The American owner further expressed his appreciation for the fans. The Wrexham owner has been astounded by the fanfare ever since he landed in LA for the match. “It took us about four hours to drive from Los Angeles. We sat in the traffic and I wasn’t sure what to expect. And wow, I mean, this is just an incredible experience,” said McElhenney.

He then made a humorous comment on how both the fanbases are known for the red colour – Red Dragons and Red Devils. He said seeing thousands in red, he hilariously added how he wasn’t sure who they were rooting for, but he was happy, regardless.

“You see thousands of people here and they’re all wearing red. So we can’t say for sure who they are rooting for,” said Rob chirpily. But keeping the crowd chants and Red Dragons’ popularity in mind, it surely looked like Wrexham had more fans!
